Aurat March 2020- Women's empowerment

Aurat march is a step to women's empowerment, on women's day the 8th of March, in Karachi, where women will march again for the awareness of their socio-economic problems, reproductive and environmental justice, physical and emotional abuse, and for their rights.

Aurat march started in 2018, where women in various cities of Pakistan marched for their rights. In the last two years, it has become a tradition to march to raise awareness of discrimination, sexism, and harassment faced by women in society, especially working women.

Political figures are also promoting this trend. As Bakhtawar Bhutto Zardari tweeted "I wholeheartedly support #AuratMarch2020. Voices should be heard, issues should be discussed, and rights should be protected. Any act of suppression will only make our voices louder and stronger. And for anyone who thinks otherwise #ThankyouNext"

Quad e Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah said "“No nation can ever be worthy of its existence that cannot take its women along with the men. No struggle can ever succeed without women participating side by side with men"

Brawl with the world

Suppression of women has a long history in the world, but as the world is changing women for their rights against suppression are emerging. Western society is no doubt the male-dominated world, moreover, suppression is worse there. Many protests were executed in the USA which upshot in the rectification of many resolutions in favor of women.

In Pakistan, By the scuffle of women in many fields and the government's sincere concern for the safeguarding of women's rights against physical abuse. Protection of women against violence bill was passed in 2016, as domestic abuse is one of the paramount problems for women in Pakistan.

Numerous movements in the past few years came into being, Most controversial of it was METOO movement which crisped the USA like a wildfire. Many A class actresses came out with sexual harassment stories, which they faced in Hollywood. Many producers were sacked and many denied the accusations but it showed the world the dark side of Hollywood, and how women were compelled to suffer for success.

In Pakistan, this movement was sparked but due to some certain reasons, it didn't rally up. Simply, Because internet or social media in Pakistan has to yet form into the lawful platform and hence accusations seemed baseless yet, a controversial case of Mesha Shafi vs Ali Zafar was one which got public eye and had many faces even they took it into courts and the matter became more complex, the case is still in trail.

Some other perspectives

People of Pakistan have many perspectives towards Women's empowerment, none of it is against the rights of women, despite that many males and females both have different opinions towards the unspoken dilemma of misuse of power which is in human nature irrespective of sex.

As the harassment case by Mesha Shafi is in the trail of course, but faced many problems in initial stages which shifted the sympathies towards Ali Zafar.

The majority of males perceive women empowerment and feminism not under the same flag. Even though many males want to be the pillars for women empowerment as according to the religion of Islam, but identify feminism as the mischief of society.

Recently, a drama "Mery pass tum ho" in which a woman- a wife was unfaithful, was a big hit and the majority of the viewers were females. its scriptwriter Khalil ul Rehman recognize feminism as the next social dilemma people of Pakistan will face, but still favors women empowerment.

Many feminists raged against him, still, he is on his statement and asks the feminist to debate with him on some kind of panel like educated people do and prove him wrong.

What do you think Feminism has to do anything with Women empowerment and no man should be part of it...? or, Feminism is mere the branch of Women empowerment and any individual can be part of empowering women without being feminist...?
